HSE Guidance – Diving At Work Regulations
Many swimming pool managers are unaware that when using divers in their swimming pools, they are also responsible for ensuring that the correct health and safety legislation is followed. In the case of diving work, the diving at work regulations 1997 must be followed to help avoid accidents.
Everyone involved has a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of those taking part in the diving project. – Managing health and safety in swimming pools (2003)
Commercial and Specialised Diving are able to help assist swimming pool managers by ensuring that the correct Health and Safety legislation is followed. We are always happy to discuss any issues or queries that our clients may have about using divers in swimming pools. Did you know that if you are using divers to conduct work in your swimming pool you must engage an HSE registered and compliant diving contractor? In order to conduct manual work underwater all divers must hold a valid, in date certificate of medical fitness as well as their correct HSE (or equivalent) diving certification. Commercial and Specialised Diving ensure that all their divers have the correct in date documents to ensure that we adhere to the diving at work regulations.
